Seeking The Interest of Christ

"For I have no one like him, who will be genuinely concerned for your welfare.  They all seek their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ." (Philippians 2:20, 21)

How easy it is for me to be self-centered in life in general and ministry in particular.  I start comparing my ministry with others...but there in lies the problem.  It is not my ministry.  I am a steward.  I have nothing that hasn't been given to me from the Lord.

I have struggled with not giving more in time and treasure, using the excuse, "I'm in full-time ministry...I already sacrifice enough."  That is another way of seeking my own interests.  Paul says in 2 Cor. 8:7,  "But as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all earnestness, and in our love for you—see that you excel in this act of grace also."

Lord, help me to seek the interests of Christ.  To be concerned and consumed with building Your kingdom - not my own.  Grant me grace to excel in giving all that I am and have as worship unto you (Rom 12:1, 2), for everything that I am and have is a gift from You.
