Your Kingdom Come
As a family, we have been examining the Lord's Prayer these past few weeks. The second petition, "Your kingdom come," is a call for God's kingdom to advance in our hearts and in the world. There's a breadth (as more people are added to His kingdom through salvation) and a depth (as the family of God is matured in faith and Christ-likeness).
Paul prays for the Thessalonians, "Now may the God peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it." (1 Thess. 5:23, 24)
May God advance His kingdom in the world and in our hearts. May he complete the work that he began in each of us. Come Lord Jesus, come.
