The Lord of the details

There is a colloquial saying, "The Devil's in the details," meaning that there is difficulty when we begin to work out the plan of any large endeavor. In reading Exodus 36-39, it seems that God is pleased to work in and through very detailed instructions in the constructing of the tabernacle and its furnishings.

When Israel left Egypt they really plundered them. They have already made a golden calf which undoubtedly took some gold, and now they are able to supply gold, bronze, silver, acacia wood, fine yarns, and precious stones. I particularly like the description of the ladies in 35:26, "All the women whose hearts stirred them to use their skill spun the goat's hair."

I need my heart stirred again to worship and adore this great God, giving back to him what he really owns in the first place, all that I am.
